Creating and Configuring an EFS Policy
Step 1: Access the Policies Menu
- Navigate to the Policies section in the Elastio console.
- Click on the + New Policy button to create a new policy.
Step 2: Define Policy Details
- Policy Name: Enter a name for the policy.
- Frequency: Choose how often the policy will execute.
- Protection Window Start Time: Specify the desired start time.
- Time Zone: Select the applicable time zone.

Activation: Choose one of the following options:
- Activate now: Execute the policy immediately.

Pause: Schedule the policy to start at a specified time.
- Click Next to proceed.
Step 3: First Run Timing

Timing of the First Scan:
- The first scan operates based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
- If Activate now is selected, the first scan starts at the next 15-minute UTC interval.
- For example, if the policy is created at 10:25 UTC, the first job will begin at 10:30 UTC.
- Subsequent scans will follow the defined schedule.
Step 4: Select Protection Options
- Protection Mode: Select Live Scan.

Protection Types: Choose one or more of the following:
- Ransomware Detection

Malware Scan
Step 5: Choose Cloud Connectors
- Select the Cloud Connectors to define the policy's operational scope.
- This ensures the policy applies only to the intended AWS Accounts or Regions.
Step 6: Select Assets and Paths to Protect
- EFS Assets: Select the EFS assets you want to protect.

Path Protection: Choose a protection method:
- All paths: Protect the entire file system.

Specific paths:
- Click Select paths....
- Enter individual paths or glob patterns.
- Click + to add each path.
- Review the selected paths and click Save to confirm.
Step 7: Finalize Policy Creation
- Review all configurations.
- Click Save & Run to create and activate the policy.
Important Considerations

EFS Mount Points Configuration:
- EFS mount points must be available in all subnets where the Elastio vault is installed for the scan to function correctly.
- These mount points can be configured during EFS creation or added later as needed.
- Refer to the example list of mount points below:

Asset Count Display in Policies Table:
- The asset count in the Policies Table will display as
0
until the first policy run is completed.
